Holistic health encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of wellness. The mind, body, and spirit are interconnected. They are not isolated. Maybe it should be called “Wholistic” since it involves the whole body. In order to improve physical symptoms, all of these need to be addressed. Optimum health occurs when they are all in balance. The whole person is cared for and the root causes are addressed. Traditional healthcare only treats the symptoms and looks at specific parts of the body. There are so many different specialties such as gastroenterology, neurology, cardiology, endocrinology, etc. Holistic health examines how all parts of the body react and interact with each other.
